1:1 Support
Our 1:1 sessions provide opportunities for students to proactively learn skills that will help them flourish in many environments including group learning environments and classrooms. At Aspire, students can participate solely in 1:1 sessions if they are not yet ready to learn in group environments, can receive 1:1 support in the classroom and/or engage in 1:1 pull-out sessions to proactively learn and practice difficult academic and non-academic skills.
Aspire Beginnings
The Aspire Beginnings program provides the optimal balance between structured learning activities and purposeful play. While traditional academic subjects are introduced, the focus of this program is teaching the foundational skills of learning: language, social interaction, imitation, attending, joint attention and self-regulation. This program combines small group teaching, one-on-one time with our educators, and play-based learning activities that are relevant, hands-on and fun!
Before and After Care
Our Before and After Care program is a convenient add-on option for families who need flexible pick-up and drop-off hours between 8:00am and 5:00pm. During this extra-time on campus, students will engage in structured indoor or outdoor play activities, and/or benefit from additional 1-to-1 teaching-time to practice challenging academic tasks or non-academic skills.
Entry to School
The Entry to School program is a one-year school readiness program for children with autism. The program is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services through the Ontario Autism Program, and is offered by ACT Learning Centre across eastern Ontario. In Ottawa, ACT Learning Centre has partnered with Aspire Academy to provide the Entry to School program at our campus (2013 Old Carp Road).
Parent Education
Our Parent Education programs are ideal for any caregivers who want to enjoy caregiving more, shift from reacting to responding, and learn effective strategies. Join other parents and caregivers in our 6-week, virtual "Caring for You" or "Caring for Them" series, or access parent education and support through our consultative services. These offerings are available to anyone; you're child doesn't have to attend Aspire for you to access our Parent Education programs.
SLP, OT + Mental Health Support
At Aspire, we are truly committed to the success of each of our students. We care about what they think, how they feel and their unique ways of learning. Our holistic approach offers Speech- Language Pathologist (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT) and/or Mental Health supports so that our students can participate in our programs in the most meaningful ways possible. Our team of clinicians and educators work collaboratively with other professionals to target goals related to sensory processing needs, emotional and behavioural regulation, motor skill development, movement patterns, motor planning and more. Mental health supports that are tailored to our student population are also available.
Social Groups
Aspire’s Social Group programs create opportunities for students to make meaningful connections while improving their play and social-skills. Social skills include communication, language, play skills and the ability to make and keep friends. When social skills don’t come naturally, they can be taught and learned with practice. The goal of these 6-week long programs is for children to have a successful and meaningful social experience while learning and practicing specific skills.
Summer Program
Our beautiful 12 acre campus has the ultimate "camp feel" during the warmer weather. These seven week programs offer students an enriched summer experience with plenty of time outside. Using evidence-based teaching strategies, educators challenge students to explore their strengths, find new ways to learn, create friendships, participate in cooperative games and physical activities, all with a big emphasis on having fun!
